What it does
This calculator estimates how many tiles and boxes you need to cover a rectangular floor, including a waste percentage.
How the calculation works
Floor area = width × length. Tiles = ceil(floor area ÷ tile area × (1 + waste%)). For boxes, either divide tiles by tiles per box, or divide (floor area × (1 + waste%)) by coverage per box when the pack lists m² coverage.
Why it matters
Tile batches can vary. Ordering the right number of boxes in one go reduces shade variation and return trips to the merchant.

What waste percentage is typical?
Around 10% for straightforward rooms. Use 15% or more for diagonals, complex cuts, or herringbone.
Tiles per box or coverage per box?
Use tiles per box when the pack shows a count. Use coverage per box when the supplier lists m² coverage, for example 1.44 m² per box.
Are tile sizes in millimetres?
Yes. Enter the nominal tile face size in mm, for example 300 × 600.
Does this include walls?
It is set up for floors. For walls, enter the wall width and height in the floor width/length fields.
Should I match dye lots?
Yes. Buy enough boxes from the same batch where possible.
What about spacers and grout width?
This estimate ignores joint width, which slightly reduces tiles needed. Waste usually more than covers that difference.
