What it does
This calculator estimates the selling price of a job by combining labour, materials and other costs, then applying markup, discounts and VAT. It provides a planning estimate only and does not generate a customer quotation.
How the calculation works
Labour, materials and other costs are added together to create the cost subtotal. A markup percentage is applied to calculate the selling price before any discounts. Any discount is then deducted, VAT is calculated on the discounted amount (if applicable), and the final estimated quote is displayed.
Formula
- Cost Subtotal = Labour + Materials + Other Costs
- Markup Amount = Cost Subtotal × Markup %
- Selling Price = Cost Subtotal + Markup Amount
- Discount Amount = Selling Price × Discount %
- Subtotal After Discount = Selling Price − Discount Amount
- VAT = Subtotal After Discount × VAT Rate
- Estimated Quote = Subtotal After Discount + VAT
